Services

The IMAGINE Lab offers a variety of services that can help with your project, research, course. The IMAGINE Lab creates and maintains 3D models of the Georgia Tech campus and the surrounding city of Atlanta. The models are available to the Georgia Tech community for academic and research purposes upon request. The lab can utilize these assets to produce physical representations through 3D printing. As a licensed Remote Pilot the lab utilizes aerial platforms to capture images from the skies. This data can be used to create new 3D models using photogrammetry or in combination with generated designs to visualize invisible infrastructure or future development. We also have extensive experience building a wide variety of interactive devices, structures, components, and products.

IMAGINE Lab specializes in 3D modeling and animation. Whether you have needs for traditional 3D animation, renderings or interactive applications, we have staff and trained students that can help with your visualization needs.

3D models of the GT Campus and Surrounding Area

The IMAGINE Lab creates and maintains 3D models of the Georgia Tech campus and the surrounding city of Atlanta. The models are available to the Georgia Tech community for academic and research purposes provided they adhere to the following conditions: 

No Redistribution: The 3D models and associated assets are provided by the IMAGINE Lab to the individuals listed on this agreement. Redistribution or sharing of the 3D models and associated assets to anyone not listed on this agreement is strictly prohibited. A new request must be submitted to include any additional individuals. Models can only be used once for the intended project stated on the form. 

Limited Use: The 3D models and associated assets may only be used for academic and research use. Commercial use is subject to different terms and conditions. 

Acknowledgment: Use of the 3D models and associated assets in any publication or presentation requires acknowledgment using the following language: The 3D models were provided by the IMAGINE Lab in the College of Design at the Georgia Institute of Technology. 

Derived Works: Any work derived from the 3D models and associated assets, such a rendering, animation, presentation, publication or application, must be shared with the IMAGINE Lab within six months of delivery of the 3D models and associated assets. This requirement is for internal reporting purposes only. The Imagine Lab will not redistribute, publish or utilize derived products for research or commercial purposes without prior, written consent of the faculty member listed below. However, the Imagine lab reserves the right to include descriptions, including images, and samples of the derived products on any College of Design managed website. 

To make a request, fill out and sign the below pdf form and email to ImagineLab@design.gatech.edu with the title 3D Model Request. In the email clearly state what are the models are going to be used for, type of output you wish to receive (e.g. .obj, .fbx or similar), highlighted area of interest (e.g. on google map) attached to the email along with filled and signed form.

We can leverage our extensive library of models and content creation skills to create a wide variety of print ready content. Using our in house 3D printers and others available on campus we can produce models to help with planning applications, be utilized in augmented reality applications, house electronic components for working prototypes, and to create aesthetic models.

Photogrammetry

We provide full service needed for creating photogrammetry models, 3D models of real world objects created from a series of photographs, from collecting images to processing point clouds and meshes.

IMAGINE Lab has a licensed Remote Pilot and capability of taking commercial aerial imagery and video.

Physical Prototyping

We have extensive experience building a wide variety of interactive devices, structures, components, and products. Much of what we create is utilized during the research process to facilitate support of devices and to collect data but we are also capable of producing deployable end products.
