Here You Can See Our Work
We regularly present and publish reports on our findings and projects. In 2015, we completed six projects and started eight new ones. Completed projects included a cloud-based tool for pavement condition monitoring and management; smartphone-based navigational tools for people aging with disabilities; and a toolkit for utilizing Georgia wetlands data.
Our writings appear in numerous books and journals, and the numbers continue to grow each year. In 2014, we published approximately a dozen journal articles or book chapters. We make presentations on campus and at conferences and seminars in Atlanta, around the country and the world.
In 2015, Associate Director Tony Giarrusso appeared on the local National Public Radio station to discuss his Atlanta Tree Canopy study, which was also later covered in both print media and television. Ramachandra Sivakumar, Senior Research Scientist, was a key part of the team that was awarded the President’s Award for Urban Forestry by the Georgia Urban Forest Council in 2015.
Each year, the Center for Spatial Planning Analytics and Visualization hosts a GIS Day Map and Poster Competition at the College of Design. The contest features maps from city planning, civil engineering, and architecture students on a variety of topics.
